The Roles

Head of Homes & Communities: £60k - £65k

This role has a wide-ranging portfolio that covers a number of our key place and community focused services.

Responsibilities include:

  • strategic housing;
  • rough sleeping & homelessness;
  • private sector housing;
  • community safety;
  • community partnerships (including Worcester Community Trust);
  • regulatory services;
  • leisure services;
  • community engagement;
  • COVID-19 community recovery & response.

It’s a role that involves extensive community and stakeholder engagement and you’ll work closely with key organisational partners on issues such as integrated care (Health) and community safety / night-time economy (police). Partnership working with housing associations and other landlords will also be vital to support the availability of good quality, affordable housing. Increasing the Council’s own portfolio of residential units that we can draw on to support those in need of temporary accommodation will be a key priority.

You’ll lead a team of approximately 40 people, so you’ll need to have proven leadership skills that enable you to get the best from others. We expect you to have management experience in more than one of the key aspects of the service portfolio and a good strategic awareness of the other service areas. You will be committed to the principles of community engagement and will be able to demonstrate how you have successfully interpreted customer / partner feedback into service design in your career to date.
